To book a chauffeur in Dublin, send the date, pickup time, pickup and drop off addresses, number of passengers and bags, and any flight number. You receive a quote and a confirmation. For business travel, book at least a few days in advance. For weddings, events and busy periods, book weeks or even months ahead.

How far in advance should you book a chauffeur in Dublin?

As early as your plans allow. A few days’ notice is usually enough for a single airport transfer or meeting. For anything with a fixed date that others are also booking, give more notice:

  • Airport transfers and meetings: a few days to a week ahead.
  • Multi day visits and roadshows: two to four weeks ahead, so the full schedule can be planned.
  • Corporate events and conferences: a month or more, especially if you need more than one car.
  • Weddings: several months ahead, as popular dates fill up.
  • Christmas and summer: earlier than usual, as demand rises.

Short notice requests are always worth asking about. If a car is free, we will do our best to help.

What information do you need to book?

The more we know, the smoother the day. Please share:

  1. Date and pickup time.
  2. Pickup and drop off addresses, plus any stops.
  3. Flight number for airport pickups, so we can track your flight.
  4. Number of passengers and bags.
  5. The passenger’s name and mobile number, if you are booking for someone else.
  6. Anything special: waiting time between meetings, child seats, or a quiet journey to work.

Which vehicle should you book?

Lir operates luxury sedans for one to three passengers and 7 seater MPVs for groups, families and extra luggage. If you are unsure, tell us how many people and bags are travelling and we will recommend the right car.

How is a chauffeur priced?

Lir does not publish fixed prices because every journey is different. Your quote depends on the route, the vehicle, the time of day and any waiting time. Waiting is not free, so if you need the car to wait between meetings, we include it in your quote upfront. That way the price you agree is the price you pay.

Why book a chauffeur rather than a taxi?

Booking ahead gives you a named chauffeur, a confirmed car and a fixed plan. For airport pickups, your flight is tracked and you are met in arrivals. Compare the two in our guide to choosing a chauffeur or taxi from Dublin Airport.

Who runs Lir?

Lir is run by Alan McLoughlin, who served with the Irish Defence Forces’ Military Police Corps before moving into close protection. Alan is a member of the International Association of Close Protection Professionals, and brings that same planning and discretion to every booking.
