Play Golf with Ryder Cup Winner Philip Walton
Play a round in Ireland with Philip Walton, who won the deciding point for Europe at the 1995 Ryder Cup. The experience is exclusive to Lir, for groups of up to six, and every transfer is handled by our chauffeurs.
The Irishman who won the 1995 Ryder Cup point
Philip Walton beat Jay Haas on the final green of the penultimate singles match at Oak Hill, New York, in 1995, winning the point that secured the Ryder Cup for Europe. It was his only Ryder Cup appearance.
On the European Tour he won the French Open (1990), the Open de Catalonia (1995) and the English Open (1995), and he finished in the top 100 of the Order of Merit every season from 1983 to 1998. He also won the Irish PGA Championship in 1987, 1989, 1991 and 1995.
